My name is Mike McKay and I was born and raised in Bend Oregon. I really began to become interested in the outdoors during late high school and college when I became an avid skier. At that time, however, my use for hiking was merely the crappy part of getting up a mountain I wanted to ski down. As I got older, I began to appreciate the journey more and my love for hiking was really born.
I met my wife, Savannah, in 2015 and we almost immediately hit the trails together. Her passion for hiking complimented my own, and soon, we were exploring every nook and cranny of the state we could find. After a few years of this, I realized we had amassed quite a collection of adventures. People kept coming to us, asking how we find all these cool spots to go, so I thought I would share them with you. I try to include all the pertinent information that you will need so you know what to expect as you reach the trailhead.
I work as a hydrologist, so I have a science background. I find it interesting in knowing how all these cool features you see on these hikes formed, so I try and include a little geologic history in each description. So I’m making you smarter at the same time as guiding you. You should feel so lucky. So enjoy the site, enjoy the trails, be safe, and soak in all that fresh mountain air.
